#PassThePencil Challenge

Shooting Tips

• Place your camera on a tripod shooting straight down, and position your art canvas in the middle of the frame

• Pass the pencil at the midpoint of the edges. You can take your time and pass slowly, and then speed up your footage later to match the other frames

• Shoot vertical aspect ratio

Editing Tips

• You can replace any square by using the scale and resize tool in Premiere Rush

• You can also speed up the footage in Premiere Rush (useful for matching the timing on the pencil pass, and doing a rapid time-lapse of your art process)

• Advanced Level: Want to add an Instagram tag to your video? This is optional and it will take some video editing knowledge using Premiere Pro. If you want to skip this step, use the file PassThePencil-WithoutInstagramTags.mp4 otherwise, you can use the file PassThePencil-WithInstagramTags.mp4

  • Here’s how:

  • Upload a blank green photo to Instagram (I recommend creating a second private account)

  • Tag yourself using the tag tool

  • Tap on the screen to show the tag, and screen record it. It should look like this, but with your username instead

  • Use the chroma key feature in Premiere Pro to remove the green screen, so you have a clean tag layer
